What the Recent Market Shows
At $900.00, this listing gives one current price point, but the exact match history is still too thin for a responsible six month trend calculation.
Card Identity and Release Details
For collectors comparing copies, this listing should be judged as the specific 2024 2024 Topps 50/50 Shohei Ohtani Shohei Ohtani card 5 and not simply as another Shohei Ohtani card. The listing provides useful identifiers including set 2024 Topps 50/50 Shohei Ohtani, card number 5, parallel Chrome Gold Refractor and manufacturer Topps.
Matching those details before checking prices helps avoid comparing this card with a different release that only looks similar in a search result. As a current era card, it should be compared with cards from the same release whenever possible.
Why This Card Matters
The player and release context are what make this card worth separating from generic listings. Shohei Ohtani has unusual hobby demand because collectors follow both his elite hitting and pitching, with interest crossing MLB, Japanese and international releases. Topps and Bowman issues are often collected as core baseball references, so year, card number, rookie designation and exact variation matter when comparing value.
Building a Useful Comp Set
When researching a Shohei Ohtani card, start narrow and widen the search only when exact matches are scarce. For this listing, try to match year 2024, set 2024 Topps 50/50 Shohei Ohtani, card number 5, parallel Chrome Gold Refractor and grade PSA 9.
Completed sales usually deserve more weight than unsold asking prices. If only active listings are available, treat the range as seller expectations rather than a confirmed market value. Compare the current USD 900.00 ask with that matched group rather than with a broad search for every Shohei Ohtani card.

Condition Points Worth Inspecting
This copy is listed as PSA 9. The grade gives a useful shorthand, but it should not be the only thing you inspect. Check the label details, certification number, holder condition and the card itself through the plastic because eye appeal can vary between two cards with the same numeric grade.
For a modern card, inspect glossy surfaces carefully because scratches, dimples, print lines and small edge defects can be easier to miss in listing photos. Chrome style and foil finishes can show flaws differently depending on lighting. eBay currently labels the listing condition as Graded, but the photos and grading information should carry more weight than the marketplace condition field alone.
Grade Population and Condition Risks
A PSA population number could not be verified from the public cert page for this listing, so no population figure is being guessed.
Common reasons a card from this type of issue can grade lower include small dimples, roller marks or other glossy surface defects, edge or corner whitening that can be easy to miss in listing photos and left to right and top to bottom centering on the bordered design.
For numeric context, PSA publishes an approximate PSA 10 centering tolerance of 55/45 on the front and 75/25 on the reverse. PSA describes a Mint 9 as centered no worse than 60/40, so a small centering shift can be enough to separate a 9 from a 10 even before surface, corner and edge flaws are considered.
PSA grading standards. Population figures change as additional cards are graded.
What May Move the Price
Two cards with the same player name can sell for very different amounts. For 2024 2024 Topps 50/50 Shohei Ohtani Shohei Ohtani card 5, the following details are the ones worth matching first. The current listing is asking USD 900.00, so these factors are the best starting point for checking that ask against other copies.
- The 2024 release and how much collector demand exists for that year.
- Demand for the 2024 Topps 50/50 Shohei Ohtani set compared with other issues of the same player.
- Whether comparable sales match card number 5.
- The exact Chrome Gold Refractor parallel rather than the base version.
- The PSA 9 grade and how many comparable copies are available.
- The listed card features, especially 10/50.
Buying Notes for This Card
Before looking at the price, it helps to note a few basics. Sport is listed as Baseball, parallel is listed as Chrome Gold Refractor and features include 10/50. For a slabbed copy, the grade matters but so does the exact certification. Check the grader record and compare recent sales for the same card in the same grade.
Ways Collectors May Approach This Card
This card can be approached from more than one collecting angle. Some buyers organize by player, while others build a complete set, chase a specific parallel or collect only graded examples. The 2024 Topps 50/50 Shohei Ohtani set gives this copy a clear place to compare against other cards from the same product.
Before buying, decide whether you want the exact card shown, the best condition you can afford, or simply one representative copy. That decision can keep you from paying a premium for a grade, parallel or feature that does not matter to your collection. Because this listing is identified as the Chrome Gold Refractor version, make sure that variation is the one you actually want rather than a base card that may be easier to find.
Thinking About the Next Sale
If you may resell 2024 2024 Topps 50/50 Shohei Ohtani Shohei Ohtani card 5 later, save the purchase record and keep the card protected from new wear. Clear documentation makes it easier to describe exactly what you own when you create a future listing. For this graded copy, keeping the certification number with your records also makes future verification easier.
A strong resale listing should make the card easy to identify. Include the exact release details, honest condition information and enough photos for a buyer to judge corners, edges, centering and surface. The current listing is from seller dickandjanessportscards with feedback shown as 99.9% positive, 13,209 feedback, which gives you one example of how the card is being presented today. The current buying format is Buy It Now, so remember that auction results and fixed asking prices are not directly interchangeable when you review future comps.
