How to Identify This Card
This page focuses on the exact 1992 1992 Classic Derek Jeter card 231, rather than treating every Derek Jeter card as the same collectible. The listing provides useful identifiers including set 1992 Classic, card number 231 and manufacturer Classic Games, Inc.
Using the exact year, set and card number gives a much cleaner comparison than relying on the player name alone, especially when a player appears in many products during the same season. The listing also identifies this as a rookie issue, so confirming the exact release is especially important before using another rookie sale as a comp.
Player and Set Context
The appeal here is more specific than the player name alone. Derek Jeter cards combine Yankees demand, a Hall of Fame career and a well followed 1993 rookie class that gives collectors many distinct set choices. Because this is identified as a rookie issue, collectors should verify the exact licensed set, card number and parallel before comparing it with other rookie cards from the same season.
Condition Points Worth Inspecting
This copy is listed as BGS 8.5. The grade gives a useful shorthand, but it should not be the only thing you inspect. Check the label details, certification number, holder condition and the card itself through the plastic because eye appeal can vary between two cards with the same numeric grade.
For a card from this era, centering, print quality, edge chipping and surface wear can create large differences between otherwise similar copies. Compare the actual card in the listing rather than assuming every copy from the set has the same visual quality. eBay currently labels the listing condition as Graded, but the photos and grading information should carry more weight than the marketplace condition field alone.
Grading Notes and Condition Risks
The main grade pressure points to inspect on this kind of card are surface scratches, print lines, dents or stains, factory print defects that affect overall eye appeal and centering on the front and back.
Six Month Price Snapshot
The current eBay asking price is $595.00. There is not enough exact match history in the available data yet to calculate a useful six month trend.
Value Factors to Compare
Before deciding whether the current price is strong or expensive, compare the characteristics that can materially change what collectors are willing to pay. The current listing is asking USD 595.00, so these factors are the best starting point for checking that ask against other copies.
- The 1992 release and how much collector demand exists for that year.
- Demand for the 1992 Classic set compared with other issues of the same player.
- Whether comparable sales match card number 231.
- The BGS 8.5 grade and how many comparable copies are available.
- Whether collectors consistently recognize this exact release as a rookie card.
- The listed card features, especially Rookie.
How to Compare This Card With Recent Sales
A reliable comp search should match the card first and the player second. That keeps common cards, parallels and different grades from being blended together. For this listing, try to match year 1992, set 1992 Classic, card number 231 and grade BGS 8.5.
Completed sales usually deserve more weight than unsold asking prices. If only active listings are available, treat the range as seller expectations rather than a confirmed market value. Compare the current USD 595.00 ask with that matched group rather than with a broad search for every Derek Jeter card.
